System requirements and what you need
You need a PC and an account that can play Minecraft: Java Edition. Bedrock Edition is not supported.
| Minecraft: Java Edition | 26.2 | 26.3-rc-2 |
|---|---|---|
| Fabric Loader (required) | 0.19.5 | 0.19.5 |
| Fabric API (required) | 0.155.2+26.2 | 0.160.4+26.3 |
| Java | ≥25 | ≥25 |
| JEI integration | Optional | Unavailable |
Install both Fabric Loader and Fabric API, using the versions listed for your Minecraft version. The full version name identifies any release candidate.
Prepare a Fabric Loader installation, then put the satoyama and Fabric API JARs in its mods folder. Fabric Loader and Fabric API are separate, and both are required. Use a Java version at or above the minimum shown in the table.
The steps below use Minecraft 26.2 as an example. For another version, choose the matching versions from the table above.
Check the satoyama download page for a published file that supports your Minecraft version. If no file is available yet, please wait for its release.

JEI makes recipes easier to find
satoyama works with or without JEI. Installing JEI makes ingredients and recipes easier to look up in game, helping you find your way through cooking and crafting.
JEI integration for Minecraft 26.3 is planned for release after a 26.3-compatible version of JEI becomes available.
Use the official launcher
Install Fabric, then place the downloaded JAR files yourself.
Start Minecraft once
Open Java Edition 26.2 in the official Minecraft Launcher. Reach the title screen, then close both the game and launcher.
Install Fabric Loader
Get the installer from Fabric’s website: the Windows download for Windows, or Universal/.JAR for macOS and Linux. Select Client, Minecraft 26.2, and Loader 0.19.5. Enable Create Profile and install. If the JAR will not open, see the official Java guide below.
Download two JAR files
Get one satoyama distribution JAR and Fabric API 0.155.2+26.2 for Minecraft 26.2. Fabric Loader and Fabric API are separate. Keep the satoyama JAR intact; do not combine different releases or add its individual packs alongside it.
Put them in mods
Find the game directory of your Fabric installation and place both JARs in its mods folder. Create mods if needed. The table below lists default locations when you have not changed the game directory.
Play using Fabric
Select the Fabric installation in the launcher and play. Create a new Creative world and check the inventory for satoyama tabs or items listed in the Wiki for your installed release.
Default folders for the official launcher
- Windows
%APPDATA%\.minecraft\mods- macOS
~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods- Linux
~/.minecraft/mods
CurseForge uses a separate folder for each profile. These paths are for the official launcher route.
Use CurseForge
Create a dedicated profile and manage your mods in the app.
Get the CurseForge app
Download the desktop app from its official website. Select Minecraft: Java Edition and complete the initial game setup.
Create a dedicated profile
In Minecraft, choose Create. Name the profile satoyama and select Minecraft 26.2, Fabric, and Loader 0.19.5. The app prepares Fabric for you.
Add satoyama and Fabric API
Open the profile in My Modpacks. Use Add More Content to find and install satoyama. Check that Fabric API is listed too; add it if missing. Use files for Minecraft 26.2, with Fabric API 0.155.2+26.2 as the reference version. If satoyama is absent, check its download page for availability.
Press Play
Launch from the profile’s Play button and follow the Minecraft sign-in prompts. In a new Creative world, check for satoyama tabs or items listed in the Wiki for your installed release.
If something goes wrong
The mod does not appear
In the official launcher, check the Fabric installation and its game directory. In CurseForge, press Play on the profile where you added satoyama.
Fabric API or Loader is required
Check that Fabric API is installed and that Minecraft and Loader match. In CurseForge, change the Loader version through Profile Options.
A compatible file is unavailable
Check the Minecraft version and modloader together. satoyama uses Fabric. A file cannot be selected before it is published.
A duplicate mod is reported
Check for multiple satoyama releases or a distribution JAR alongside its individual packs. Keep just one distribution JAR for the release you want.
When updating
Close the game, back up your worlds, and read the release notes. With the official launcher, move the old satoyama JAR elsewhere before adding its replacement. In CurseForge, update satoyama within the profile. Check Minecraft and dependency compatibility too.
