A festival coat sewn from cotton. Modest protection — this is clothing you dye and wear.
Obtaining
Usage
The satoyama look
Put it in the chest armor slot to wear an open-fronted short coat. It guards little — this is worn to look the part, not to survive a fight.
Dyeing and washing
Craft it with any dye to recolor the body cloth. The collar never dyes, so its white band survives every color. Wash it out in a water-filled cauldron to return to the original indigo.
Mending it
It wears out as you wear it. Repair it on an anvil with cotton cloth; Unbreaking and Mending take to it just as they do to any other armor.
Behavior
Not fighting gear
The protection is slight and there is nothing else — no speed, no stealth, no set bonus. Set beside a leather chestplate it is plainly the thinner guard.

In the real world
A happi is a short, open-fronted coat of a single layer of cotton. A band of contrasting cloth runs down the collar, a single mark sits on the back, and the straight sleeves end just past the elbow.
Differences in game
Real coats carry the name of a town or crew dyed out of the collar and back, and their ground patterns differ by region. Satoyama drops the lettering and the ground pattern and keeps only the collar band and the framed mark on the back. The sash worn at the waist is a separate cloth and is not part of this.
