The planting unit of the rawan butterbur. Butterbur spreads not by seed but by divided rhizomes. Plant one on soil and it sprouts into an umbrella-leaved stand. Rare wild stands hide in snowy taiga valleys.
Generation
- Custom feature: snowy taiga、old growth spruce taiga
Ecological basis
Rawan butterbur grows to exceptional size along the Rawan River in Ashoro, Hokkaido, in a cool, moist valley. Snowy taiga and old-growth spruce taiga stand in for that snowy northern riparian habitat.
Usage
Planting
Plant on dirt or grass. Breaking a stand's crown returns rhizomes, so one wild find can move into the garden. Bone meal works too.
