| Planted as | Icebox Watermelon Seeds |
A watermelon small enough to carry under one arm. Eaten whole rather than cut into slices, it is the most filling thing a summer garden gives.
The watermelon of the sand dunes, brought home and sown. It sets one whole melon at a time, hanging heavily under a trellis.
Obtaining
- Harvested from Icebox Watermelon Plant
Usage
From sand to garden
A wild runner in the desert or on a beach yields both the melon and its seeds. Sow the seeds on farmland and train the plant up a net or under a trellis at home.
Hanging from a trellis
With open air below a trellis the melon hangs whole; with the underside blocked it sets on the vine itself.
