| Planted as | Sweet Pepper Seeds |
A thick-walled green pepper with a grassy edge. Edible raw, but it comes into its own in a hot pan. Also the source of its own seeds.
A farmland bush that stays. Pick a ripe fruit and it drops while the plant bears again — the same rhythm as the eggplant, with a blunt green fruit instead. First seeds come from wild sweet pepper in the jungle.

Ecological basis
Capsicum, including sweet pepper, is native to tropical America and grows in warm openings and forest margins. Jungle and bamboo-jungle edges represent that habitat.
